Lead Video Editor / Storytelling & Post-Production

New York, NYFull-time · In-Person

About the Job

We're a fast-moving startup in the NYC metro area building documentary-style and interview-driven content as our core. On top of that, we aim for bold, high-profile shoots — from cinematic team journeys across Europe to stunts like blowing up a car in Vegas. The focus is story-driven filmmaking, but the ceiling is limitless. Every piece must meet professional standards — no excuses.

What You'll Do

  • Own the edit: turn raw interviews, team moments, and events into cinematic, story-driven films.
  • Craft stories from hours of b-roll and dialogue, shaping pacing, emotion, and retention.
  • Deliver snappy, cinematic cuts optimized for YouTube, Shorts, TikTok, and other social platforms.
  • Add tasteful 2D motion graphics, titles, and kinetic text to elevate edits without overloading them.
  • Color grade and mix audio to professional standards.
  • Build repeatable editing pipelines for speed, quality, and consistency.
  • Travel with the team (domestic + international) on short notice to capture content and cut on the move.

Gear We'll Provide

  • Sony FX3 + Sony FX30s
  • Sigma zooms + primes
  • Ronin + DJI gimbals
  • Professional lighting + audio kits
  • DJI drone
  • Top-tier MacBook Pro

Work Expectations (Non-Negotiable)

  • In-office, five days a week, 9–6 minimum (New York City).
  • This is NOT freelance, remote, or side work.
  • Occasional weekends depending on project load.
  • We're not clock-watchers — we care about output. Most of the team stays late because we're here to build a legacy and ship our best work.
  • You are the lead creative for post-production: every day editing, setting the bar for quality.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience editing cinematic, story-driven short-form and social content.
  • Portfolio that shows both polish and pace: fast, cinematic, and impossible to ignore.
  • Technical strength in color grading, audio, and post workflows.
  • Ability to explain your creative decisions and editing logic.
  • Detail-obsessed and fast. Nothing sloppy, nothing slow.
  • Passionate: every edit makes you proud.
  • Legal U.S. work authorization.
  • Ability to travel internationally on short notice.

Nice to Have

  • Comfortable shooting interviews, b-roll, or events when needed.
  • You don't need to be a DP, but if you can pick up a Sony FX3 and capture clean, usable footage, that's a big plus.

Style & References

We're not looking for generic corporate edits. Our content should feel cinematic, fast-paced, and social-native — sharp cuts, documentary realism, and motion graphics that support the story.

  • Performance-based bonuses.
  • 0.5% equity ownership in the company.
